The Samburu National Reserve is a wildlife reserve along the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro River in Kenya. Samburu is known for its wide variety of animals and birds. Several large game species typical of Kenya’s northern plains are found here in abundance, including dry-country species such as gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, oryx, and reticulated giraffe. All three big cats—lion, cheetah, and African leopard—live in the reserve, along with elephant, Cape buffalo, and hippopotamus.
